Our Mission:

Foundation 153: Enriching students and teachers through opportunity, development, and support.

Faced with increasingly tight school budgets, District 153 rallied concerned parents and other community leaders to found Foundation 153 in 2005. Their objective was to meet the challenges of funding educational experiences beyond the school district's reach.

Since its inception, Foundation 153 has granted funds to over 60 worthy projects proposed by District 153 teachers and administrators.  From purchasing books to providing audio equipment, from sending kids to Eli’s Cheesecake Factory for a field trip to inviting published authors in to meet the kids, Foundation 153 has helped provide an innovative and diverse offering of relevant educational opportunities to all the students of District 153.

With the support of our benefactors, parents, and local businesses, Foundation 153 can help fill in the gaps and give our children the education they deserve, and opportunities that will last a lifetime.

Homewood School District 153 serves the majority of residents in Homewood and some portions of Glenwood and Hazel Crest. The district has four schools:

-Willow School prekindergarten through second grade

-Churchill School 3rd and 4th grades

-Millennium School 5th and 6th grades

-James Hart School 7th and 8th grades

Between the four schools, nearly 2,000 children are served.
